This adventure is really starting to pick up speed.

I am starting to find more ways to do things on TWITTER.  I was thinking and decided that when I attend a conference or something for work it may be good to TWEET a few things I have learned when there is a break.  That way the idea will be fresh in my mind and I can give more detail.  I can use it for giving myself tips to use when I go back to work.    Hmmmm, this may just save me some time.

  1. You seem to be enjoying the social media aspect of this class, which is good.

You mentioned using Twitter during conferences to tweet aspects of the training out. How do you plan to use the information tweeted out later on? Will you be compiling the information somewhere, or using Twitter as a means to reinforce what you've learned?

I ask, because I've participated in over 6500 hours of in-service training in my career. I've found that taking notes in the handouts, or in a notebook was the best way to keep short notes on critical points of the training. I then file them with the class materials for later reference.

This sort of dovetails with things I've seen younger folks doing in training. They are not taking notes. It could be they are going back later to record thoughts somewhere, but not during the class. It makes me wonder if they are paying attention at all.

For me, if I tweeted out notes on a class, I would find it difficult to go back later and find them, given all the stuff that feeds into Twitter on a daily basis. Not knowing enough about Twitter, I think it would be hard to recall those specific tweets down the road.

    1. OLP, thanks for making me think. I would hope that if I tweeted something that I could go back into Twitter and read it. If I had some feedback that expanded on the concept, that would be even better. Since I am a new TWIT, I may understand the limitations on retrieving information that I have tweeted. In theory, I would think that if I did a hashtag on the concept, I could retrieve it pretty easily.
It sounds like that may not be a realistic approach. Thanks for opening my eyes. I love that you are reading my tweets and offering advice.
      Many Thanks,

    2. You could hashtag it. However, what if there is more than one hashtag out there that relates to the topic? I am just not convinced that Twitter would be a good repository for information you will want to easily access later. Sometimes that need to access the information can be months, or years, down the road, then what?

As little as I know about Twitter, and only being on it the last two weeks, I can see where the feed will fill so fast, it would take considerable time to locate past information.
